cooperate convergence in the Nigeria Media Industry

Corporate Convergence in Nigeria Media Industry
Convergence simply means the intersection among the existing media industry. It is the flow of content across multiple media platforms, the cooperation between multiple media industries, and the migratory behaviour of media audiences. Convergence in the media industry is how individual consumers interact with others on a social level and use various media platforms to create new experiences, new forms of media and content that connect them socially, and not just to other consumers, but to the corporate producers of media in ways that have not been as readily accessible in the past.
Media industry all over the world has one thing in common which is the primary objective of any media organization- informing, educating and entertaining. These three media functions have become the link that unites the consumers of the media industry to a single entity. The Nigeria media industry has been able to maintain a considerable corporate convergence.
Media convergence, in reality, is more than just a shift in technology. It alters relationships between industries, technologies, audiences, genres and markets. Media convergence changes the rationality media industries operate in, and the way that media consumers process news and entertainment. Media convergence is essentially a process and not an outcome. With proliferation of different media channels and increasing portability of new telecommunications and computing technologies, we have entered into an era where media constantly surrounds us.
With the three basic functions of media industry in Nigeria, media consumers have been pushed to have virtually the same view towards the media producers based on their area of specialization. A news specialized media industry be it electronics, print or online receives almost the same response and experience from its consumers across the country and by doing this, they are brought under the same platform with other media such as print to determine the news item that will be suitable to their audience. This is also applicable to all other media industry that specialized in sport and entertainment. It was on this note the Nigeria media industry has decided to come under a platform and Marshall out a means of reaching out to their audience.
Today in the Nigeria media industry, internet has become a major channel through which all media parastatals are converged. The news on the electronics media and the print media can be received simultaneously online. Pictures, videos and articles can be gotten through internet with minimal cost. Media convergence underscores the extent at which the communication infrastructures are shared and properly utilized among the various media organizations. For example, a cell phone can be used to record and send story to a TV channels, pictures and story to print media and voice recording for radio broadcast.
